Spurs have received a blow ahead of their crucial clash against Newcastle as the Magpies are now expected to have two of their key men back fit.
Tottenham are struggling with a number of absentees across their squad, with injuries and suspensions severely limiting Ange Postecoglou‘s options.
Currently, the Lilywhites are without Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur (suspended), Richarlison and Mikey Moore.
It initially seemed like Newcastle might also arrive at N17 with a severely weakened side, but Eddie Howe has now been boosted by the return of two key players.
The Daily Mail have revealed that centre-back Sven Botman, who has been out of action for nine months with a serious knee injury, has now been passed fit for Saturday’s game.
The Dutchman is now expected to be part of the matchday squad at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Howe facing a big decision on whether to start him or name him on the substitute’s bench.
Former Spurs right-back Kieran Trippier came off with a leg injury issue just before the hour mark of Newcastle’s win over Old Trafford. However, the England international too has been passed fit to play at his former stomping ground.
This is a very difficult game for Spurs, due to the injuries they have and the fact that they are facing a Magpies side high on confidence.
However, given Tottenham’s precarious situation in the table, this is a must-win game for the club. Another home defeat would shatter the confidence of the squad and make it extremely difficult for Ange Postecoglou to turn this project around.
