Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign promising young Premier League striker Evan Ferguson, but they would only be willing to do a deal if an important condition is fulfilled.
Tottenham are expected to be busy in January, with reports indicating that Ange Postecoglou‘s men want to reinforce several areas across the pitch.
According to the latest update from TEAMtalk one of the positions that Spurs are keen on addressing is the centre-forward role, with the club wanting to bring in someone who can provide stiff competition to Dominic Solanke.
With Richarlison unable to do so due to his injury woes, it is claimed that Tottenham have now turned their attention one young Premier League starlet.
According to TEAMtalk, the player in question is Evan Ferguson, who is expected to be made available on loan after suffering a series of injury setbacks this season.
The report states that Spurs are now keeping tabs on the 20-year-old’s situation and are ready to pounce if he is put on the shop window.
However, it is explained that the Lilywhites are reluctant to sign Ferguson on a straight loan deal as they do not want to develop the striker for Brighton.
It is alleged that Postecoglou‘s men will only push ahead with a move for the Republic of Ireland international if the Seagulls agree to include an option or obligation to buy the player.
TEAMtalk make it clear that Spurs have to be swift to clinch a deal as other clubs across the Premier League are also making advances towards Ferguson.
This includes Chelsea, who have been ‘long-term admirers’ of the youngster and identified him as one of their two top striker targets ahead of January.
The publication adds that Ferguson is also on the radars of both Leicester and West Ham, with both clubs having already approached the centre-forward’s agent regarding a transfer.
