Jose Mourinho is looking to take one Tottenham star to Fenerbahce amidst reports that the player is unhappy with the North London club’s treatment of him.
Heung-min Son is going through what is undoubtedly the toughest spell of his Tottenham career since his very first season at the club.
The Spurs captain has been woefully out of form this season and is struggling to turn things around, with even more pressure being piled on his shoulders after his penalty miss against Wolves on Sunday.
This comes at a time when Tottenham have not offered the South Korean a new long-term contract, a decision which has reportedly not gone down well among the forward and his representatives.
Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that Jose Mourinho is keeping an eye on the developments regarding his former player and is keen on reuniting with him at Fenerbahce.
The Portuguese coach has reportedly named the Tottenham man among three big-name signings that he wants the Turkish club’s hierarchy to make.
It is suggested that the special one believes that the lure of winning trophies could convince Son to move to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
The outlet points out that if Spurs do not take up the option to activate the one-year extension in the 32-year-old’s contract, he would be free to speak to non-English clubs from January 1 as he would be down to the final six months of his deal.
This is certainly not the first time we are hearing speculation linking Son with a move away from Spurs, with various reports over recent months suggesting that he is on the radar of Saudi and Turkish clubs.
However, the Tottenham captain’s agent has made it pretty clear that the expectation is for Spurs to offer a new deal, with the forward not thinking about a transfer at this time.
He said last month: “It is not true that Son Heung-min first requested a Spanish club or that he will go to Turkey. We have not yet finished talking with Tottenham.”
