Tottenham Hotspur dropped yet another two points at home to struggling opposition this evening in the Premier League. Let’s take a look at our Tottenham player ratings from the 2-2 draw with Wolves.
Fraser Forster – 5 – Made a couple of decent stops but his kicking was all over the place today. Gave the ball away far too often.
Pedro Porro – 7 – Grabbed an assist for Tottenham’s first goal and was an important figure in the build-up play (including a couple of nutmegs). For once, his back-post defending was also pretty good throughout.
Radu Dragusin – 4 – As usual, his defending itself is often very good when he’s given a player to mark. Unfortunately, his passing after winning the ball back was atrocious. Put Spurs back under pressure time and time again.
Archie Gray – 6 – His positional awareness and calmness on the ball at the back are extremely impressive considering his age and lack of experience at centre-back. Obviously, not perfect, but he will look back on this period and be all the better for it in the future.
Destiny Udogie – 6 – Looked pretty solid while he was on the pitch – albeit not his old self going forward. We are seemingly seeing less and less of him driving into the box. Went off injured in the second half, adding to Tottenham’s problems at the back.
Yves Bissouma – 5 – Struggled to dictate the tempo as Tottenham needed at times. It felt like Bentancur did the pivot job much better when he dropped in to help out.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 6 – Getting back to regular match sharpness and kept Spurs ticking over nicely at times. Did well to rise highest at the near post and head home to get Spurs level again at 1-1. Still far from his best but we saw a little of that press resistance we all know and love in there. Hasn’t helped himself by picking up a suspension for the next game.
Dejan Kulusevski – 7 – Have to give Deki credit for carving out that assist for Tottenham’s second. He is often the one consistent source of world-class creativity in the final third. The only issue is that he looks so tired at the moment, those pieces of world-class ability are looking increasingly fleeting.
Brennan Johnson – 6 – Popped up with another goal today and was involved in a few great pieces of interplay down the right. Unfortunately, there were too many moments of anonymity between those flashes.
Dominic Solanke – 7 – One of Tottenham’s best players today. His hold-up and build-up play seems to get better by the week. Some of his creativity today was nothing short of superb, the only problem was that the ball rarely got back to him with the same level of class.
Heung-min Son – 3 – He really struggled to get into the game once again. Seems incapable of actually driving at his defender and taking them on 1v1 at the moment. The Spurs captain also failed to convert from the spot at a crucial moment.
Substitutes:
Sergio Reguilon – 6 – I thought we had seen the last of Reggy but needs must with Udogie injured and Spence suspended. You know what, he actually played very well all things considered too.
Pape Matar Sarr – 6 – Came on to add more legs in midfield and did just that. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the most of the two good chances he had in and around the Wolves box.
James Maddison – 5 – Came on in the second half but failed to add much more of a spark to Tottenham’s creativity. Blasted one chance high over the bar from the edge of the box.
Timo Werner – 5 – Once again struggled to do a lot of the basics off the bench, although you can’t fault his effort levels. Deserved an assist for his lovely cross into Solanke.
