Dan Kilpatrick has named three Tottenham academy starlets who could be ready to follow in Mikey Moore’s footsteps and create an impact in the first-team set-up sooner rather than later.
Spurs have some exciting young academy players who have impressed in the first-team set-up, with both Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear being handed their debuts by Ange Postecoglou this season.
Moore, in particular, has surprised everyone with how comfortable he looks at the highest level, which is not what one would have expected from a 17-year-old.
While Spurs fans are understandably excited about the winger, Kilpatrick has now suggested via The Standard that three other exciting young players could also be ready to follow Moore’s path.
The first name on his list is goalkeeper Josh Keeley, whose reputation has skyrocketed over the last 18 months.
The 21-year-old joined Tottenham’s Academy in 2022 from St. Patricks Atheltic and he caught the eye with his impressive displays at non-league side Barnet last season.
Leyton Orient secured the youngster on loan back in the summer and after a tricky start to his spell at Brisbane Road, Keeley has established himself as the number one at the League One side this season, managing seven clean sheets in 10 league appearances so far.
Kilpatrick claims that the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international could potentially go on to become Tottenham’s number one in the future.
The next on his list is midfielder Callum Olusesi, who is said to be very close mates with Moore.
Although the 17-year-old is still waiting for his senior debut, he has been named on the bench quite a few times by Ange Postecoglou and has trained regularly with the first team.
The versatile teenager, who is capable of playing as a number eight or a number ten, has scored four goals in nine PL 2 appearances this season and has another striker to his name in the FA Youth Cup.
Kilpatrick suggests that the next step for Olusesi is to head out on loan to the EFL before he is ready to be integrated into the first-team set-up at Spurs.
The last name on Kilpatrick’s list is 16-year-old centre-back Malachi Hardy, who is said to have caught the eye of Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff.
The youngster has an imposing stature and is thus reportedly able to hold his own against full professionals, with Kilpatrick describing him as a ‘commanding defender’
Hardy has captained England and has reportedly won plaudits for his calmness on the ball, thus potentially making him a good fit for Postecoglou’s system.
The teenage defender has not only trained with the Tottenham first-team on many occasions but also made the matchday squad in the club’s 4-0 win over Manchester City last month.
