Luka Vuskovic’s loan spell at Westerlo continues to get better and better, with the on-loan Tottenham man adding another spectacular goal to his ever-growing tally.
When he made the loan switch to the Belgian top flight in the summer, Vuskovic would have wondered if he would get much game time at all this season.
However, the 17-year-old has surpassed all expectations at the Antwerp-based club this season, not only being a mainstay in the club’s backline but arguably also one of the best players so far this season.
The centre-back has been posting some incredible numbers so far this season, contributing more going forward than any other central defender in the Jupiler Pro League this season.
The teenager found the back of the net yet again for Westerlo in their away clash against Club Brugge on Thursday, with the goal being his fifth of the season in just 19 league games, which is an unbelievable ratio for a defender.
Vuskovic’s latest strike was his best one yet, with the on-loan Tottenham man meeting a knocked-back header without an acrobatic overhead kick to make it 2-2 on 56 minutes.
Unfortunately, the goal was not enough to help Westerlo get anything from the game, with Brugge emerging 4-3 winners, owing to a stoppage-time winner.
While we have seen centre-backs who are goal threats before, Vuskovic is taking things to a whole new level when it comes to contributing at the other end of the pitch.
All of his finishes suggest that he is a natural goalscorer, which is not something one would expect from a centre-half. However, the Croat will ultimately be judged on his defensive prowess and that is the part of the game that he will have to master if he wants to make it at the highest level.
