A football finance expert has now predicted how much Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is likely worth, thanks to his wage at the club and his ownership stake.
It would not be appropriate to compare Levy with the chiefs of the other football clubs in the Premier League as the 62-year-old is effectively also a co-owner of the club.
Levy and his family are 29.88 per cent investors in Spurs’ majority shareholder ENIC, which owns 86.58 per cent of the club.
That means that as Tottenham’s revenues have continued to soar over recent years, so has the English businessman’s net worth.
According to some reports, ENIC and Levy value Tottenham at a whopping £3.75billion and are now looking to sell a minority stake in the club.
Finance expert Stefan Borson has now pointed out that the club’s value has grown five-fold since the owners first bought the club from Alan Sugar almost two and a half a decades ago, thus making Levy a very wealthy man.
Borson told Football Insider: “Spurs have got a choice, but I think the chances are that they will continue with their strategy. It’s been very successful from a financial perspective.
“It’s been very personally lucrative for Daniel Levy that the business has gone from a valuation when he took over of probably £500million in total to maybe five times that today. He’s seen growth in his equity as well, so he’s gone from being worth quite a lot to being worth nearly $1 billion.
“We sort of lose sight of the fact he’s one of the most successful British entrepreneurs around if he’s worth $1billion. There are not that many British billionaire-dollar people.”
These numbers explain exactly why Levy and ENIC are playing the long game, with their big payday set to come when the club are finally taken over.
The outrage among Spurs fans for the bonuses that Levy is given are completely nonsensical as those few million are extremely minuscule figures and pale in comparison to the growth in revenue that has occurred directly as a result of Levy’s decisions.
