Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a sensational move for a former Manchester City star, whose contract is about to run out at the end of the season.
Under Johan Lange and Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have preferred to sign youth over experience, with the club having an eye on the long-term.
However, Postecoglou has hinted recently that the club’s approach could change a bit, with the squad needing a bit more performers in order to take the next step.
It has now emerged that the Lilywhites are now eyeing an experienced wide-man, who has been delivering consistently at the highest level for both club and country for the last decade.
This update comes from Sport, who say that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Leroy Sane, whose current deal with Bayern Munich runs out at the end of the season.
Spurs have reportedly been joined in the race for the pacy winger’s signature by both Chelsea and Manchester United, with the trio prepared to offer the former Man City man a route back to England.
It is revealed that there has not been any breakthrough in negotiations over a new deal, with the two parties currently in a standoff.
The report adds that the Premier League clubs could face competition from Barcelona, who are also keeping an eye on the German international’s situation.
Sport go on to say that even though Sane is attracting a lot of interest from around Europe, his preference would be to remain in the Bundesliga.
Further, it is explained that the Bayern hierarchy want the winger to lower his salary if he wants to sign a new deal, particularly since they do not lack quality options on the flanks, with Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise and Kingsley Coman in the squad.
With Sane set to enter the final six months of his deal soon, he would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-German clubs from January 1.
