One Leicester City player has urged a struggling on-loan Spurs youngster to link up with him at the King Power Stadium.
After a relatively promising start to his loan spell at Espanyol, Alejo Veliz’s form has tailed off significantly over recent months.
The 21-year-old has scored just one league goal for the Catalan club so far this season and is now struggling to get into their starting eleven.
Reports over recent days have suggested that Espanyol could cut short his loan in January and that the striker would be ready to do the same.
Facundo Buonanotte, who is on loan at Leicester from Brighton, has now urged his compatriot to join the Foxes if he has the chance.
Buonanotte and Veliz played together at Rosario Central, with the duo graduating together from the Argentine club’s youth system.
When asked about the Tottenham man’s situation, the attacking midfielder told Sportscenter (as relayed by Ole): “I would tell Tanque [Alejo] Véliz to come here to learn from Jamie Vardy. He is on loan but now he is at Tottenham, so I think he knows about this. During the time we were at Central we made a nice duo.”
If Veliz does return to Hotspur Way in January, Tottenham’s priority would be to loan him to a club where he is guaranteed to get game time.
The last thing they would want is for the Argentine to warm the bench at a Premier League side.
Ange Postecoglou‘s men may thus decide to send the young centre-forward to the Championship for the second-half of the season, which is something they should have arguably done back in the summer.
