One Ligue 1 centre-back, who is on Tottenham’s radar, has been put on the shop window ahead of January, with super-agent Jorge Mendes tasked with pushing through a transfer.
It is no secret that Spurs are on the lookout for reinforcements in central defence, and it has been reported over recent weeks that Lens starlet Abdukodir Khusanov has caught the North London club’s attention with his impressive displays this season.
In fact, it was even revealed last week that Spurs had sent their scouts to France on several occasions this year to run the rule over the 20-year-old.
The latest development over the future of the young centre-back will come as music to Tottenham’s ears, with the club’s pursuit of the player receiving a big boost.
This is because L’Equipe (as relayed by Sport Witness) are now reporting that Lens need to raise a lot of cash to cover their losses and have thus decided to put a number of their players on sale.
The French club are thought to be in desperate need to lower their wage bill and the player who is expected to fetch them the most money in January is Khusanov.
The outlet reveals that amidst the interest from Tottenham, Jorge Mendes has now been told to push through the sale of the young defender.
However, Tottenham are not the only side after Khusanov, with L’Equipe stating that Manchester City, Newcastle, Leicester City and RB Leipzig have come forward to express interest in the player.
It is revealed that the Lens are expected a fee in the region of €25m- €30m (£20.7m-£24.9m) for the young starlet.
The publication adds that Mendes is now working on moving the centre-back to the Premier League, with Lens and the agent hopeful that a bidding war will ensure for the Uzbekistan international.
