Dominic Solanke has claimed he has more to offer Tottenham Hotspur, as he reveals the ultimate objective they are working towards.
Dominic Solanke has divided opinions since making his big-money move to Tottenham in the summer. Although he has received praise for his performances, there have been continuous doubts over his ability to finish.
His record of 19 Premier League goals last season was more than any of Tottenham’s forwards, but still not close to Harry Kane’s best seasons at the club. And this season, that figure is looking very aspirational as things stand.
Currently, Solanke has just six league goals, while he has missed eight big chances, although he has four more in other competitions. This includes an impressive double last week against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
While Solanke has admitted he is not thrilled by his lack of goals, he is determined to help his team achieve their ultimate goal – to win a trophy.
Speaking to The Independent, he said: “I always want more goals no matter how many I score. I would have liked to have a few more by now, but that’s always the mindset, you always want more. I think the main point is trying to get the consistency in the team right now and working towards some trophies.
“I feel like I am where I wanted to be but I feel like I have still got a lot more to give though, so I will keep working and improving. And our main goal here is to win something now.
“The manager speaks about it all the time, we all obviously want to win something as well and that’s the dream of the football club. Like I keep mentioning, that is the wave we are on and hopefully we can achieve it.”
While Spurs have not even entered the title race in the Premier League this season, just two teams stand in their way in the League Cup, while they are one of the clubs being tipped to win the Europa League.
Ange Postecoglou will be determined to continue his record of winning silverware in his second season and if Spurs are to accomplish this, Solanke is likely to play an important role.
