It has emerged that one exciting attacker who Tottenham and the other Premier League clubs have their eye on, is facing a nervous wait to find out the extent of his latest injury.
Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz has emerged as one of the best players in the Turkish top-flight over the last few years and has also shone on the international stage.
A move to one of Europe’s top leagues looks imminent for the versatile wide-forward, with TBR Football explaining that Tottenham are one of the clubs eyeing a move for the 24-year-old.
In fact, the outlet claims that Spurs, along with several of their Premier League rivals, scouted the attacker over the weekend as the Super Lig champions overcame Sivasspor.
However, the evening did not end well for Yilmaz, who was reportedly forced off with an injury late on, with his knee appearing to have buckled after being on the end of a clumsy challenge.
TBR Football reveal that the Turkey international was stretchered off and that there were initially fears that he had suffered an ACL injury.
The report explains that if that had been the case, that would have put a potential £25m switch to the Premier League in January in major doubt as such an injury would keep the attacker out of action until next season.
However, it would appear that Yilmaz has managed to avoid an ACL injury, with the issue not as serious as initially feared. The Galatasaray man is now waiting to find out the extent of the damage but there appears to be some optimism that it is not a major issue.
The Turkish side’s club doctor, Yener Ince, told Sporx: “[Yilmaz’s injury] wasn’t as bad as we feared. We’ll see match by match. It’s too early to say anything clear.”
Manager Okan Buruk told the same outlet about the injury: “Baris has a strong physique and he was lucky. He did not suffer a major injury. [He will be back] as soon as possible.”
