Ange Postecoglou provides more information on Richarlison and his latest Spurs injury. Tottenham were trying to avoid overworking him, but the striker has picked up another ‘significant’ problem.
It is difficult to imagine what is going through Richarlison‘s head at the moment, with the striker suffering a series of injuries that have kept him sidelined since the start of 2024.
Already this year, the striker has suffered multiple knee problems, a calf injury, and an unknown muscle injury (Transfermarkt), and this time, it was his hamstring that gave way during Tottenham‘s 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
The Brazilian took to social media to admit that he was devastated at the development, asking everyone to pray for him.
Postecoglou has now admitted that everyone at Spurs, including Richarlison, is extremely disappointed with the latest injury.
The Spurs head coach explained that the club tried to take a different approach to Richarlison‘s conditioning and limit his workload, but their efforts ultimately failed.
The Australian told Football.London about Tottenham’s number nine: “Very disappointed. We tried to take a different approach. He’d really trimmed down in terms of his conditioning. We were doing everything right, trying not to overload him but unfortunately, he broke down again. He’s disappointed.”
According to The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, Postecoglou confessed that Richarlison’s injury is a ‘significant’ one.
While all of us are rooting for Richarlison to bounce back from this latest setback, one cannot help but shake the feeling that this might be the final nail in the coffin of his Tottenham career.
Postecoglou will undoubtedly be sympathetic to the forward’s situation, but he will also have realised that he needs to sign a striker in January who he can rely upon.
