Dominic Solanke has made a good impression since joining Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s clear that he and his new manager, Ange Postecoglou, feel they work well together.
Spurs were hunting for a new striker all summer, and by all accounts, Dominic Solanke was the man the club and Ange Postecoglou really wanted all along.
They got the deal over the line eventually and, after a false start due to an injury, the forward has now hit the ground running and looks to be perfect for Tottenham’s system.
Solanke scored three goals in three games over the last month, but was unable to make a difference in the defeat to Brighton last weekend. He now heads into the international break having earned a recall to the England squad, and has been talking about life at Spurs with the press.
At a press conference on Tuesday (via Hayters TV), Solanke was asked about his new club and Postecoglou’s approach to football, and had nothing but positive things to say.
He said: “He’s a great manager, one of the reasons why I was so keen to join Tottenham. The way he plays definitely suits my style, so it’s like for like. The way he plays is very aggressive, on the front foot, pressing very high which I enjoy doing. So like he’s said, it’s a great fit.”
Postecoglou has previously stated Solanke was his top target in the summer, as he knew he would fit the system he wants to use at Spurs (Football.London).
It is clear to see already the kind of impact Solanke is having and will continue to have at Spurs. His high-pressure play and incredible work rate are going to help us win possession high up the pitch, and we all know how dangerous we are in those areas.
