Lucas Bergvall is certainly enjoying his start to life at Tottenham, having already clocked up a healthy number of minutes under Ange Postecoglou. But what are his expectations for the season ahead?
The lowest point in Lucas Bergvall’s short Tottenham career so far came against Qarabag in the Europa League. On what should have been a happy evening for the Bergvall family, with Lucas making his first start for Spurs, it ended up being a bitterly disappointing affair.
Although Tottenham eventually won the match 3-0, Bergvall was hooked after just 10 minutes following Radu Dragusin’s straight red card. While he was gutted by the turn of events, Bergvall understood the decisions and did his best to move past it.
He told Fotbolldirekt: “Of course I were disappointed, but you should be. I completely understood the decision. It was just a matter of letting go and moving on.”
When Bergvall first swapped Djurgardens for Tottenham Hotspur back in February, the Swedish starlet was reportedly asked what his aim for the season was. He replied simply, to make his debut.
Fast forward to October and Bergvall already has 185 minutes under his belt with Spurs, so it appears his first aim has already been ticked off.
He said: “Haha, first goal completed now! I don’t know what my expectations were, it was more to get there and see where it would take me. It was incredibly fun to make my debut.”
It appears that Bergvall has garnered some comparisons to England and Manchester United legend, David Beckham, back in his native Sweden. However, Lucas thinks that is more down to the hair than anything.
He joked: “Uh, I don’t know… It’s probably my hair.”
