Tottenham Hotspur are set for a substantial financial boost over the next couple of weekends as their stadium gets ready to host a major sporting event, TBR Football reveal.
Tottenham’s stadium was designed with a retractable pitch, which allows the club to host other sporting events and concerts in close time proximity to Spurs games.
That is not something that other clubs across the Premier League can do, thus giving the Lilywhites a big financial advantage.
In addition, the stadium was also designed to be accommodating of NFL games, with the venue emerging as the home of American football in the UK.
TBR Football have now revealed that Spurs are set for a huge financial boost as they will host two NFL matches at their stadium over the next two weekends.
The New York Jets will face the Minnesota Vikings this Saturday, followed by the Jacksonville Jaguar’s clash with the Chicago Bears a week later.
According to the outlet, given the hosting fee and the revenue from food and drink sales in those two matches, Tottenham are set to generate close to £8m.
It was put to Daniel Levy in the recently held fan forum that Tottenham were in danger of becoming an entertainment brand first and a football club second.
The Spurs chairman rejected that claim, insisting that he will not apologise for trying to generate more revenue through the events that can be pumped into the football team.
He said: “We’re about providing the resources for our teams to win. And we don’t make any apologies that we’re trying to increase our revenue base so we can invest more in our teams.
“If that means we have the opportunity because of this great stadium to have concerts, that’s great because we’re giving it all to the teams. I don’t apologise at all. I think it’s good.”
