Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reveals that Ange Postecoglou did something unusual during Tottenham’s training session on Wednesday.
It is well documented that Postecoglou is not a coach who directly likes to run training sessions day-to-day, with the Australian delegating the coaching duties to his staff.
Usually, the 59-year-old debriefs his staff on exactly what he wants in each session and he then allows them to get the ideas across to the players while standing back and assessing how each player gets on.
However, it turns out that things were quite different during Spurs’ training session in the Groupama Arena in Budapest on Wednesday.
Alasdair Gold reveals that the Tottenham head coach himself decided to run the training session on a rain-swept pitch ahead of the Europa League clash against Ferencvaros.
Postecoglou is said to have taken charge of an attacking drill, standing in the middle and constantly bellowing instructions at his players.
Gold stated that the Spurs boss continued encouraging his players as they scored goal after goal on Wednesday.
Gold revealed that the training sessions did not shed any light on the Spurs team that is likely to take on Ferencvaros.
The journalist explained that each of the different teams in training consisted of a smattering of youngsters and did not form any semblance of the expected eleven to walk out onto the pitch this evening.
However, given that Spurs travel to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton this Sunday, one would expect Postecoglou to make wholesale changes to the side and rest key players.
