Peter Crouch is confident that Dominic Solanke will score plenty of goals for Tottenham Hotspur this season, naming the centre-forward as the best signing of the summer transfer window.
Solanke was the most expensive signing of the summer across the Premier League, with Tottenham reportedly paying an initial £55m for the Englishman, with the fee potentially rising to £65m including add-ons (TEAMtalk).
It is because of the humungous fee that some pundits are not convinced by the transfer, with the likes of Jamie Carragher suggesting that the 26-year-old would struggle to live up to that price tag (Sky Sports).
Unfortunately, Solanke has not had much of an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong, having played just one game since his switch.
The England international picked up an ankle injury, which ruled him out of the clashes against both Everton and Newcastle United, but he is expected to be fit for the North London Derby following the international break.
Crouch is confident that the Tottenham newcomer will be a hit at N17, insisting that he is the kind of player they need to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s departure.
When asked who the best signing of the summer was, the former Spurs striker told TNT Sports on TikTok: “I think Solanke at Tottenham. I don’t think they replaced Harry Kane when he left as the focal point.
“The number nine at Spurs, once he gets over his injury I think he will score goals and he will do the business.”

The promising that is that most former strikers, including the likes of Crouch and Sheringham, seem confident that Solanke will prove a hit at Spurs.
These guys know what it takes to score goals at the highest levels and they seem to think that the Tottenham man has all the attributes needed to deliver.
