Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Alfie Devine has joined Belgian side Westerlo on a season-long loan deal.
Alfie Devine is widely seen as one of the best young players coming through the ranks at Hotspur Way, with many at Spurs expecting the youngster to push for a regular first-team role in the near future.
The 20-year-old impressed in pre-season last summer and showed plenty of promise again in the friendlies ahead of the new campaign.
The attacking midfielder spent the first-half of last season on loan at Port Vale and was one of the League One side’s stand out players during that spell, with Spurs thus deciding to recall him in January and send him to Championship side, Plymouth Argyle.
Devine will link up with Luka Vuskovic at Westerlo, the Croatian defender who will join Spurs in 2025 from Croatian club Hajduk Split
While he had a tricky start to his spell at Home Park Stadium, he never looked back after establishing himself in the starting eleven, eventually playing a key role in helping the club secure safety.
Devine will now get his first taste of football on the continent and will hope to play regularly and catch the eye of Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff.
A statement on the official Spurs site read: “Alfie Devine has joined Belgian Pro League side Westerlo on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.”

Given the options that Postecoglou has, Devine was unlikely to even get game time in the Europa League if he had stayed.
The 20-year-old needs to play senior football and Tottenham will be hoping that he is ready to contest for a first-team spot when he returns to the club next summer.
