After a productive summer in the transfer market, there is just one more player Tottenham need to move on. But, there is still time for him to join forces with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.
The deadline day sale of Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis last Friday marked another big step in the revolution at Spurs. A number of fringe players and outcasts have left the club this summer, and Sergio Reguilon could be next.
It has been made clear that the Spaniard has no future in North London under Ange Postecoglou, but with transfer windows closing every day, there are fewer and fewer options open to Reguilon.
The Turkish transfer window remains open for another week, though, and there is plenty of interest there for the full-back.
According to the latest from Fanatik, Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are keen to sign Reguilon.
It is thought Mourinho is eager to link up with his former player once more, and a loan deal is being mooted as a possibility before the window shuts.
The report claims a split of the player’s salary would need to be negotiated before a deal can be struck, though.
Despite interest from a number of clubs this summer, Reguilon now appears to face a choice between a move to Turkey or being left in the cold at Spurs.
Postecoglou has made it clear the defender will not be reintegrated into his squad if he does not get a move this summer (The Standard).
As well as Fenerbahce, Reguilon has attracted the interest of Besiktas in Turkey, too (Spor Sayfa as translated by Sport Witness).
Spurs Web Opinion
It would feel very apt for Reguilon to link up with Mourinho again. They worked well together back in Mourinho’s Spurs days, and Turkey is clearly the best option still available to Reguilon now.
