Tottenham Hotspur have a very promising young goalkeeper in their ranks in the form of Josh Keeley, and now that he has signed on loan for Leyton Orient, it has been revealed exactly how the Lilywhites discovered the Irish talent.
Spurs signed Keeley from Irish side St Pats back in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer. While the 21-year-old is yet to feature for Tottenham’s senior side, he is gaining a lot of hype thanks to his displays out on loan.
Keeley spent some time with National League side Barnet last season, making 18 appearances as the club made it to the play-offs.
Now, he has made the jump to League One to join Jamie Donley at Leyton Orient, and is waiting to make his debut. Sadly, he was signed too late to feature last weekend in the defeat against Shrewsbury.
But, upon the announcement of his signing, George Sessions shared some information about how Tottenham found Keeley in the first place.
Sessions tweeted: “Great to see another Spurs youngster head to Leyton Orient. Josh Keeley is very highly-rated, did excellent at Barnet last season and very comfortable with ball at his feet. Interestingly, he was spotted by Pat Jennings’ son in Ireland and a Dean Brill prodigy.”
Interestingly, Jennings turned out for both Tottenham and Arsenal during his time in England. The Irishman made 539 appearances for Spurs and even scored one goal, but also made 288 appearances for the Gunners (Transfermarkt).

I’ve high hopes for Josh Keeley. I think he will very quickly overtake the likes of Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin and be our backup goalkeeper in a couple of years. I’m not sure he will ever be our number one, but he will definitely have a good career if he continues on his current trajectory.
