Alejo Veliz says he already feels at home in Espanyol and he is keen to have a great season in Catalonia before returning to Tottenham next summer.
Veliz’s loan spell at Sevilla during the second half of last season was one to forget for the striker, who hardly got a look in during his six months at Andalusia.
The 20-year-old will be hoping to fare much better on his return to Spain as he will help newly promoted Espanyol in their quest to remain in La Liga.
The on-loan Tottenham man made his first start for the club in their last week, partnering Javi Puado upfront as Espanyol lined up in a 3-5-2 formation away at Valladolid. It was not the ideal start for Veliz, who was hooked after 70 minutes as his side started their campaign with a 1-0 loss.
The striker will be hoping to have a better outing this weekend as he prepares for his home debut against Real Sociedad.
Speaking ahead of the game, the centre-forward admitted that he feels confident and is keen to showcase his qualities on the pitch.
Veliz told AS: “I am very happy to be here. I adapted very quickly to the group, there are good people, healthy people and that is the most important thing
“It is true that I have only recently been here, but my teammates helped me adapt very quickly. I feel more confident, more loose. I’m going to try to improve this week to try to give more of myself.”

Veliz will be keen to catch the eye of Postecoglou and the decision-makers at Spurs and demonstrate that he can score goals at the highest level.
The youngster looks set to get plenty of game time at the Stage Front Stadium.
