Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed that the North London club are still looking at various midfield options on the market and have not ruled out a late move. However, they will not be signing a new number six this window.
With a little over a week left in the transfer window, it remains unclear as to whether Spurs are done in terms of incomings or whether they still have something up their sleeve.
The Athletic reported on Thursday morning that despite losing Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tottenham have actually been on the lookout for an energetic number eight rather than a number six.
The publication explained that Jacob Ramsey was someone who fit the bill but the club faced defeat in their attempts to sign him.
It was revealed that even a number eight is no longer a priority for Ange Postecoglou as the Spurs boss has been left quite impressed by both Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, with both players expected to have major first-team roles this season.
When this question was posed to O’Keefe, he made it clear that Tottenham have not ruled out a late midfield signing just yet – but not a number six.

In Maddison, Bergvall, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr and Gray, Postecoglou has six decent options for three positions.
So Tottenham will not want to sign another midfielder for the sake of it if the right options are not available.
