Tottenham will be hoping to get a win on the board in the first home game of the new season this weekend, but before kick-off, one Spurs star will be celebrated for his loyalty to the club.
That’s right, the longest-serving member of the Tottenham squad, Ben Davies, will be the centre of attention prior to kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Welshman reached ten years with the club this summer, and Spurs have now announced they will be commemorating that landmark this weekend.
A statement from the club revealed Davies will receive a “special commemorative gift” to recognise his service, and Ledley King will be the one presenting this to the 31-year-old.
You can expect this to take place after the teams finish their pre-match warm-ups, at around 14:45 on Saturday, August 24.
Described as an “invaluable member” of the Spurs squad over the years, the club has encouraged fans to celebrate Davies with them on Saturday by being in their seats early to show appreciation for the reliable defender.
In ten years at the club, Davies has racked up 330 appearances for the Lilywhites, with nine goals and 23 assists (Transfermarkt).
He has fallen down the pecking order of late, with Ange Postecoglou preferring a back four of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie, but Davies is still versatile and dependable cover across the left side of that defence.

I know he gets a bit of stick sometimes, but Davies rarely puts a foot wrong and always gives 100% to the club.
He truly deserves this celebration, and to be honest I hope he retires with us and joins the coaching staff. He’s a smart guy who could well have a bright future after he hangs up his boots.
