Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has played down suggestions of Tottenham making a move for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes in his latest appearance on Last Word on Spurs.
It has been widely reported that Ange Postecoglou wants to bring an all-action number eight through the door before the transfer window slams shut in a little over a week.
The latest to carry that information was GiveMeSport, who revealed a few days ago that Gomes had now emerged as the Lilywhites’ top target.
The report claimed that the Brazil international fits the profile that Tottenham are looking for, with the North London side ready to test the waters with an offer for the player over the coming days.
The publication added that Wolves valued the 23-year-old at £50m but would not want to lose the player at this stage of the window.
However, Sheth has now played down these rumours, refuting suggestions that Tottenham have made any progress in their pursuit of Gomes.
The journalist asserted on the LWOS podcast that so far, there has been no approach from Spurs for the Wolves star until now.

Tottenham managed to keep the like Gray and Odobert deals under wraps until the very end, while we also only heard about the Solanke deal well after contacts had been made with Bournemouth regarding a striker.
Just because the media has not caught on to Tottenham’s talks over Gomes or any other midfielder, does not mean that a deal is not being worked on.
We might just see Spurs pull another cat out of the bag over the coming days.
