Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to move for a Premier League-proven striker to improve their attacking options.
Ange Postecoglou had little time to look to try to fill some of the void left by Harry Kane last summer when he joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on the cusp of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
The Australian has used Heung-min Son mostly down the middle following Kane’s exit, with Richarlison also deputising as and when he has been available amid his injury issues.
Former Ipswich and Newcastle midfielder Darren Ambrose, who is also a boyhood Spurs fan believes that Ivan Toney should be the man to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
Toney is within the final twelve months of this contract at Brentford, who value the striker in the region of £50milion (GiveMeSport).
The Bees will likely to be reluctant to see Toney depart after his replacement Igor Thiago is expected to be out for months after suffering a knee injury during a pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon earlier this month.
Ambrose told talkSPORT: “He (Toney) oozes confidence, and I think Ange Postecoglou could do with someone like that.
“Richarlison came in from Everton, good signing, can he be the one to score goals? I am not a huge fan of Son in the number 9 role.
“He is so effective from the left, and you need your best players playing in the places they are most effective.
“So, to get him on the left, you need a number 9. I think Ivan Toney could really work with the way Ange Postecoglou likes to play.
“He will get chances, and 10, 15 more goals and you are seeing a top-three side there, more goals than last season, and you are seeing a top-three side there.
“Oozes confidence, had a good Euros, good impact. If he came in, it’s probably his last chance saloon basically for a big club. I would be relatively confident that he would do really well at Spurs.”

Brentford are likely to dig in their heels to demand a fee of over £50m for Toney, especially due to Thiago’s injury which would leave them without a striker if the England international departed.
Lille’s Jonathan David, who is also in the final year of his contract, would be more attainable at a £20million fee.
