Yang Min-hyuk has broken his silence on his transfer to Tottenham, revealing that he has already spoken face-to-face with Heung-min Son about the move.
Tottenham officially announced the signing of Yang Min-hyuk earlier today, making the South Korean starlet their third new arrival of the summer after Timo Werner (loan) and Archie Gray.
Yang won’t actually arrive in N17 until January 2025, when the current K-League season comes to an end, but he will face off against Spurs in a pre-season friendly against Team K-League this week.
Despite Tottenham having been in South Korea for less than 24 hours, it appears Heung-min Son has already had a chat with Spurs’ latest Korean starlet.
Yang Min-hyuk reveals he had a chat with Sonny about the move to Tottenham today, and Son advised him to start learning English before he arrives in London in January.
The Gangwon FC starlet said during a live broadcast: “I met Son Heung Min in Seoul while completing the last part of my medical test for Tottenham. He told me that I am playing well and that I should study English diligently from now.”
He added: “When I first heard about Tottenham’s interest, I couldn’t believe that a team like Tottenham was interested in me. When I heard that official negotiations had begun, I was delighted.”
It appears the 18-year-old is excited to get going in North London, but he still has another six months of action with Gangwon FC in the K-League to enjoy first.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Having Son already at the club will be a dream for Yang. As a youngster arriving from Korea, he will need someone to look up to. Not to mention someone who can translate and help him settle.
