Tottenham Hotspur now have an abundance of central midfielders, something Fulham are looking to take advantage of as they put together a proposal for one player Spurs may allow to leave this summer.
It has been suggested for quite some time now that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will call time on his Tottenham career this summer, but he might not end up moving very far if Fulham get their own way.
The latest from Football Insider claims the West London side are turning their attention to Hojbjerg after seeing a £17m bid rejected by Manchester United for Scott McTominay.
Spurs have reportedly told Hojbjerg he is free to leave the club this summer, especially given the acquisition of Archie Gray, who can operate in the middle of the park or at right-back.
It is thought Hojbjerg’s experience would make him a suitable addition for Fulham, who are lacking in midfield, and he could instantly walk into their first-team.
The report adds that, regardless of Hojbjerg’s situation, Spurs may also let Oliver Skipp leave this summer.
It won’t be easy for Fulham to secure the signing of Hojbjerg, though. The Danish international is a wanted man, with a number of top European clubs already linked to him this summer.
A report from Football Insider last week claimed Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and two other clubs were also keen on Hojbjerg.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt Hojbjerg would flourish at Fulham and would get all the first-team football he could want.
But, I do think he is capable of playing at a higher level and in a better team, so I reckon he will hold out for a move to a big club in Europe rather than staying in the Premier League.
