Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Leeds United’s efforts to include Oliver Skipp as a part of Tottenham’s deal for Archie Gray were rejected by Ange Postecoglou’s men.
Gray looks set to be Tottenham’s first big signing of the summer (after the club extended Timo Werner’s loan spell), with several outlets now reporting that the 18-year-old is set to seal a move to the Lilywhites.
According to various reports, the total deal will be worth around £40m, with Joe Rodon set to secure a permanent move to Leeds in a separate £10m deal (Fabrizio Romano).
Gold has now also confirmed that Rodon will head to Elland Road on a permanent basis as a part of the Gray deal but he revealed that the Weslhman is not the only Tottenham player Leeds wanted.
He explained that Daniel Farke’s side explored the possibility of using Skipp in the negotiations for the teenager but Spurs had no interest in doing so.
The journalist further asserts that the Tottenham midfielder will have Premier League interest if he were to leave this summer.
However, such a move would leave Postecoglou’s men short of homegrown and club-trained players.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham would likely be ready to listen to any offers for Skipp but at the same time, I do not think Ange would mind keeping him around as a squad player.
It will be interesting to see what Spurs do if the 23-year-old pushes for a loan move later in the window.
