On the back of the latest round of results in the three European competitions, the Premier League is currently not on course to get an extra Champions League spot.
With the Champions League set to be expanded next season, an extra automatic qualification spot will be handed to the two leagues whose teams perform the best in the three European competitions this season.
A fifth-place finish might thus be enough for Spurs to get into the Champions League but as things stand, the two extra spots are on course to go to the Serie A and Bundesliga instead.
While Manchester City have sealed their progression to the quarterfinal of the Champions League, Arsenal have to overcome a 1-0 deficit to Porto in the second long to follow suit.
West Ham also have to turn around a 1-0 deficit to Freiburg in the Europa League second leg while Brighton are all but out of the competition, having been beaten 4-0 by AS Roma in the first leg of the round of 16.
Meanwhile, things are square between Aston Villa and Ajax in the round of 16 stage of the Europa Conference League, with the two sides playing out a 0-0 draw in Amsterdam in the first leg.
After the latest round of results, here is how the UEFA coefficient points table looks (via Dale Johnson):

The English teams will be relying on Man City going all the way in the Champions League and Liverpool doing the same in the Europa League in order for the Premier League to get an extra Champions League spot.
Spurs fans may also find themselves in the strange position of wanting Arsenal to overcome Porto and make it to the next round.
