Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) and Kari Lake, running a hotly contested race to replace retiring independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) in the upper chamber, will take the debate stage Wednesday evening.
Recent polling shows Gallego leading Lake, who has been endorsed by former President Trump, in the race by 10 points — 52 percent support to 42 percent.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ's polling index in the Grand Canyon State, which began early voting on Wednesday, shows the Arizona Democrat ahead by just more than 8 points, garnering 50.1 percent support compared to the former news broadcaster's 41.9 percent.
Lake announced Wednesday that she planned to cast her ballot early on Thursday, despite having previously criticized the practice.
The forum also comes after Gallego's campaign shared that they raised close to $22 million in the third quarter of fundraising for the year. It is unclear how much Lake has raised, but candidates have until Oct. 15 to file their third-quarter numbers.
The event, hosted by the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission and Arizona Media Association, is scheduled to begin at 9 pm. EDT.
