Former President Trump is slated to deliver remarks Thursday on the state of the economy and his agenda at a campaign stop in New York.
Trump's proposals have largely focused on issues that are relevant to lower-income voters, with the former president pledging to cancel taxes on tips for workers in the service sector and enacting large-scale tariff regimes meant to boost domestic jobs and increase wages.
His plan for tax cuts could cost more than almost all federal agencies, or an estimated $10.5 trillion over a decade, Bloomberg News reported. If implemented, the proposals could also add north of $4 trillion to the nation’s deficits over a decade, per experts.
The economy and inflation are still at the top of voter's minds heading into November, polling shows, and both Vice President Harris and Trump have sought to make their case in recent weeks. The issue is likely to be a main talking point at the presidential debate between the nominees next week, which will also marks the first time the two meet in person.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ's national polling index shows Harris currently leading Trump 49.2 percent to 45.6 percent.
The event at the Economic Club of New York is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. EDT.
