The only thing more liberating than a mid-divorce faux-hawk? A mid-divorce dye job. Or at least that’s what the latest “Page Six” photos of Ben Affleck suggest. The actor and former half of Bennifer 2.0 was photographed in Santa Monica on Thursday with a pep in his step and his signature salt-and-pepper whiskers replaced by what appears to be a freshly dyed, near-black beard. Where the faux-hawk screamed soon-to-be bachelor in crisis, this new look screams, “This is fine. I am fine. Nothing to see here, folks.”
Per “Page Six,” this cool winter aesthetic is something Affleck has attempted before. In 2020, he debuted a similarly matte beard, prompting a celebrity colorist to call the look “unnatural.” At the moment, however, the 52-year-old has more pressing concerns than what the tabloids think of his facial hair. Over the past several weeks, Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been busy trying to project a united front for their children, attending back-to-school night together and acting altogether chill about the whole divorce thing. But despite rumblings of a rekindling (and a rumored Polo Lounge brunch make-out), People reported last week that the divorce is still very much a go as the former couple “continue to focus on the kids.” “They want to show the kids that things are amicable,” a source told the outlet. “They want to stay friendly. There’s still a lot of love.” Now that’s mature.
Perhaps there’s “a lot of love” left, but there certainly doesn’t seem to be enough liquid cash in the bank to hang on to their $61 million love nest. According to TMZ, Bennifer are close to off-loading their Beverly Hills mansion, though a prospective buyer reportedly pulled out of escrow last month.
