Megan Thee Stallion is joining the rapidly growing list of celebs backing Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency. On Tuesday, the rapper will perform at Harris’s rally in Atlanta, Georgia, a spokesperson for Harris confirmed on X.
Georgia, a critical battleground state for Democrats, has historically voted red, but went blue in 2020 for the first time since 1992. Dan Kanninen, the Harris campaign’s battleground-states director, told reporters on Monday that the state is still “in play,” which could explain why Harris has visited it 15 times since becoming vice-president.
In addition to a performance from Megan, Harris is expected to be supported by Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock along with former representative Stacey Abrams, per ABC. Atlanta is notably home to historically Black institutions Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University, and Harris is also expected to meet with local reproductive-rights activists and leaders, according to Axios.
Megan is only the latest celeb to throw her support behind Harris. Over the weekend, the Harris campaign posted a playful video of Lance Bass asking, “Hey, Kamala, what are we gonna say to Donald Trump in November?,” to which Harris responded, “Bye, bye, bye,” referring to ’N Sync’s 2000 song. Last week, Beyoncé gave Harris permission to use her song “Freedom” throughout the campaign, including as the soundtrack for her first official ad. Though it technically wasn’t an endorsement, to many it might as well have been.
Congrats to the Harris campaign for securing both the Brat and hot girl summer contingents.
