Tengrinews.kz - Vice-Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Rostislav Konyashkin commented on the problem of poor internet along highways and railways.
According to him, an analysis of the so-called white spots was conducted last year.
"Based on the analysis, 243 points were identified where it is necessary to additionally install antenna-mast structures. Currently, the akimats are developing design and estimate documentation. About 80 have already been implemented. In 2025, these white spots will be eliminated. This is on roads of national importance. In addition, an analysis has now begun on local roads. Based on the results of the analysis, it will also be included in the plan," Konyashkin promised during the government hour in the Mazhilis.
Regarding the Internet on trains, the Vice Minister said the following:
"We analyzed various technologies, mobile Internet, installation based on FOCL (fiber-optic communication line). Our satellite systems came to the conclusion that the most optimal is the Internet via low-orbit satellites, following the example of Starlink and OneWeb. We have now held negotiations with OneWeb. In January, we plan to launch a pilot project together with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. Based on its results, a decision will be made on how satisfied we are with the quality that will be, the tariffs that will be provided. And, accordingly, a decision will be made on further scaling," Konyashkin noted.
