Tengrinews.kz - Cigarettes hidden in cabbage were attempted to be smuggled out of Kazakhstan, according to the press service of the National Security Committee.
On October 28, at the "Zhaisan" automobile checkpoint, the Border Service of the National Security Committee in the Aktobe region intercepted an illegal export of a large shipment of cigarettes.
"More than 71,000 packs of tobacco products were attempted to be smuggled out of Kazakhstan without accompanying documents, concealed under boxes of vegetable products. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the seized goods amounts to about 50 million tenge," the statement said.

The detained cargo has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
It is worth noting that earlier attempts were made to smuggle 336,000 packs of cigarettes out of Kazakhstan disguised as construction materials. Preliminary estimates put the value of the seized goods at over 200 million tenge.
