The official visit of the Head of State to Turkmenistan continued with participation in the international forum dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi.
In his speech, the President noted that Makhtumkuli is the founder of Turkmen classical literature and an outstanding thinker of the East.
"An example of the historical significance of Makhtumkuli Fraghi is UNESCO's decision to include his works in the international register 'Memory of the World.' His legacy is especially revered in the Turkic world, which is why the TURKSOY Organization declared year 2024 as the Year of Memory of the Great Poet and Thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi. I am confident that this decision will contribute to the popularization of his work on the international stage," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the Head of State, against the backdrop of a complex geopolitical situation and numerous global challenges, the legacy of the world-renowned classic becomes even more relevant.

"The poetry of Makhtumkuli Fraghi, deeply infused with humanitarian ideas, reminds us all of the enduring values of peace, trust, and mutual respect. All his works are imbued with an unwavering love for the Motherland. He envisioned a bright future for his people in unity with the world and harmony with those around him," said the President.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed confidence that the progressive development of Turkmenistan and extensive socio-economic and political reforms will contribute to strengthening the centuries-old Turkmen statehood.
"Neutral Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to global security and stability, as well as to cooperation in Central Asia and the Caspian region. At the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly declared 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. The achievements of your country illustrate Makhtumkuli Fraghi's dream of creating a strong Turkmen state," he noted.

The Head of State spoke about the events organized in Kazakhstan to honor the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli, which will serve as a means of promoting the rich legacy of the great thinker and developing cultural diplomacy. According to him, the opening of a monument to Makhtumkuli Fraghi in Astana is a vivid testament to the unbreakable bonds of friendship and good neighborliness between the two countries.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also noted that the day before, during his official visit to Ashgabat, a solemn ceremony was held to unveil a monument to the great Kazakh thinker Abai Kunanbaiuly. As stated in the speech, the works of Abai and Makhtumkuli unite profound reflections on the future of their peoples and lofty ideas of humanism.
