Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Turkmenistan on an official visit, according to Akorda.
The president was greeted at Ashgabat International Airport with a formal reception by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people.
During the visit, Tokayev will hold talks with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, focusing on bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, and transport logistics.
As part of the program, Tokayev will also unveil a monument to the Kazakh poet Abai in Ashgabat and attend the International Forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Foundation of Peace and Development”.
In August 2024, during the VI Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders in Astana, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Tokayev to visit Turkmenistan. The two leaders discussed the prospects of Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation, paying special attention to cultural and humanitarian ties.
"Turkmenistan places great importance on cooperation with Kazakhstan. There is an active political dialogue between our countries, and ties in the trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres are developing. Dear Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly, we look forward to welcoming you to Turkmenistan this fall for an official visit and to participate in the International Forum marking the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fraghi," said the President of Turkmenistan during his meeting with President Tokayev in Astana.
