Tengrinews.kz - A Kazakhstani woman has been extradited from Turkey, suspected of embezzlement on a large scale, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.
It is reported that between 2022 and 2023, while working as an accountant for a commercial organization in Almaty, the suspect embezzled approximately 27 million tenge by falsifying payment orders.
"After committing the crime, the perpetrator fled, leading to her being placed on international wanted lists. In August, she was detained in Turkey and subsequently handed over to Kazakhstani law enforcement authorities at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan. She is currently being held in a detention center in Astana," the statement reads.
The suspect faces imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with confiscation of property.
Earlier, a Kazakhstani citizen suspected of inciting religious hatred has been extradited from Russia.
