Tengrinews.kz - The activities of a major drug laboratory organized by citizens of a European country were shut down in the East Kazakhstan region, according to the regional prosecutor's office.
It was reported that, under the coordination of the East Kazakhstan regional prosecutor's office, the regional National Security Committee (NSC) department seized more than 125 kilograms of mephedrone, equivalent to 630,000 single doses, 500 liters of precursors, and next-generation laboratory equipment capable of producing up to 30 kilograms of synthetic drugs per day.
The value of the seized drugs on the black market is estimated to exceed 3.5 billion tenge.
"Two foreign citizens have been taken into custody with court sanction. A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan. Other information related to the criminal case is not subject to disclosure in the interests of the investigation," the statement said.
Earlier, the National Security Committee reported the detention of foreigners in Shymkent who had organized an underground drug laboratory.
