Tengrinews.kz - Bakhytzhan Baizhanov, the brother of former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who was sentenced to four years, has withdrawn his petition to the Supreme Court, which means it will not be reviewed.
The appeal cited about 20 procedural violations that Bishimbayev’s defense believed the judge committed during the trial. However, it has now been withdrawn.
This information was provided by the Supreme Court.
"On August 26, Baizhanov withdrew his cassation petition for the review of court decisions, and therefore, the preliminary consideration of the petition will not take place. The ruling on the return of the petition will be issued on September 4, 2024," the court statement said.
On May 13, the trial in Astana concluded in the case of the murder of Saltanat Nukenova. Former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev was found guilty of torturing and murdering his wife. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
His brother, Bakhytzhan Baizhanov, was found guilty of concealing the crime and was sentenced to four years in prison.
