Tengrinews.kz - French authorities issued arrest warrants for both Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, and his brother Nikolai Durov in March, according to Politico.
According to the publication, the authorities' attention was drawn due to Telegram's refusal to cooperate with the police in an investigation into child sexual abuse.
The document reviewed by Politico indicates that Telegram ignored a request to identify a user, which led to the issuance of the warrants. It is also noted that the messenger does not cooperate with authorities on other cases.
Arrest warrants for Pavel and his brother Nikolai were issued on March 25. They are charged with "aiding in the possession and distribution of pornographic materials involving minors," although there is no evidence of their direct involvement.
The prosecution declined to comment on the arrest warrants for the Durov brothers, stating that the investigation is classified. They mentioned that the offenses underlying the investigation include crimes related to child pornography(among others).
According to open sources, Nikolai Durov is Pavel's older brother, a programmer, and one of the creators of the social network "Vkontakte." He is also one of the founders of the messenger Telegram and the developer of the blockchain platform Telegram Open Network.
