Tengrinews.kz - The government has decided to ban the import of apples into Kazakhstan until the end of the year.
A meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations was held, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin.
The Ministry of Agriculture reported that the gross apple harvest this year is projected to reach 300,000 tons. This level of fruit production has been achieved due to government support measures provided in previous years to promote orchard cultivation.
"In 2024, apple orchards are expected to reach full production and increase yields by 18 percent, which will meet domestic market demand. Following the discussion, it was decided to impose a temporary ban on the import of apples from third countries by road transport, with the exception of imports from EAEU countries, until the end of the year," the government announced.
