Tengrinews.kz - The Border Service of the National Security Committee (NSC) foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of medications into Kazakhstan.
The perpetrators tried to smuggle medicines in ampoules through the "Altynkol" railway checkpoint in the Zhetysu Region.
"Medications of unknown origin, totaling 80,000 ampoules, were discovered in a railway container without accompanying documents," reported the NSC.
The cargo was transferred to the regional economic investigations department for further procedural action.
The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan intercepted a record amount of drugs being smuggled across the state border.
In the Zhambyl Region, NSC intercepted the illegal import of 30,000 packs of cigarettes.
