Tengrinews.kz – Bakytzhan Turlybekov, Vice President of the National Sports Association, explained why Kazakhstan decided to host the World Nomad Games.
Turlybekov emphasized that the World Nomad Games highlight Kazakhstan's connection to nomadic civilization and show that the country has unique national sports. He also mentioned a recent survey conducted to assess public awareness of the games.
"The results are encouraging. People are well-informed, interest is high, and there is a strong desire to participate," Turlybekov said.
For athletes involved in national sports, participating in the World Nomad Games is a great honor, Turlybekov emphasized. These competitions showcase that the spiritual heritage of the nation remains a priority for the country's leadership, despite the challenges of globalization.
Moreover, as the World Nomad Games approach, the improvement of racetracks and sports facilities across Kazakhstan is becoming more evident.
"These positive changes will undoubtedly contribute to the sustainable development of our national sports. We can now host international-level competitions in any national sport here in our capital," Turlybekov added.
Turlybekov also pointed out that the games will likely inspire parents to enroll their children in national sports, which he sees as one of the most significant achievements of these events.
Efforts to develop national sports are being pursued on multiple fronts, including the establishment of a Student League for national sports to promote these disciplines among university students. Over 100 universities in Kazakhstan are expected to actively engage in this initiative, according to Turlybekov.
The World Nomad Games, set to take place in Astana from September 8th to 13th, will feature participants from 89 countries. These games are a major international event aimed at preserving and promoting the traditional sports of nomadic peoples.
