Tengrinews.kz - Nazym Kyzaibay, a Kazakhstani boxer competing in the women's 50 kg (110.231 lbs) weight category, has won and advanced to the Olympic semi-finals.
In the 1/4 finals of the Olympic Games she competed against the representative of Colombia Ingrith Valencia. The fight ended with the victory of the Kazakh athlete with a final score of 4:1.
Boxer commented on her fight and stated that she will fight for gold at the Olympics.
"The match was tough. I had already lost to this opponent, so I wanted to take revenge," the National Olympic Committee quotes her.
She noted that a difficult opponent awaits her in the semi-finals.
"I will prepare and give all my strength to take the gold medal," the boxer said.
A semi-final appearance guaranteed Nazym a medal at the Olympic Games 2024, as there are no third place bouts at the Olympics (two bronze medals are awarded at the Games).
Previously, Nurbek Oralbay won Kazakhstan's first medal in boxing. This is already Kazakhstan's second guaranteed medal in boxing at the Olympics.
