The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) advanced in the afternoon of August 22 inside the militants’ enclave in the northern Hama countryside.
Pro-government sources said that the army secured the village of Sayyad and its main hilltop. The village overlooks the town of Kafr Zita, one of the militants’ key strongholds in northern Hama.
A day earlier, the SAA besieged the last militants’ strongholds in northern Hama after capturing key positions between the town of Khan Shaykhun and the village of Tar’I along the administrative border between Hama and Idlib.
Most militants withdrew from northern Hama enclave, earlier this week. However, some reportedly remained in the region for unknown reasons.
The SAA is expected to clear the entire enclave within a few days, if not hours. All the remaining militants in the enclave will likely be killed or captured.
