The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued its ground operations in the northern Hama countryside on July 31 and August 1, liberating several new villages.
Pro-government sources confirmed that army units imposed control of the villages of Hasraya, Abu Raeida Sharqi, al-Aruani farms and the Syriatel hill following heavy clashes with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies.
According to the sources, the SAA is currently advancing towards the nearby towns of al-Zaka and al-Arbaeen, where the militants’ last defense lines in the area are located
HTS and its allies, especially Jaysh al-Izza, have reportedly suffered from heavy losses as a result of the army’s ground operation and the intense Russian and Syrian airstrikes on their positions in northern Hama.
The SAA could advance further in northern Hama within the upcoming few hours. Initial reports indicate that HTS and its allies are already withdrawing from al-Zaka and al-Arbaeen.
