The ISIS news agency, Amaq, released on May 1 several photos showing an attack on a convoy of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that occurred ten days ago.
The photos show a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), that had been parked by ISIS cells, exploding as a convoy of the SDF passes through the town of Diban in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
According to a statement released by Amaq on April 22, 6 SDF fighters were killed and 8 others were injured in the VBIED attack. Furthermore, a military vehicle was completely destroyed.
The terrorist group news agency also released on May 2 a photo showing the aftermath of an improvised-explosive device (IED) attack that targeted a vehicle of the SDF near the town of Abu Rasi in the northern al-Haskah countryside. The attack occurred a day earlier.
Amaq claimed that three US-backed fighters, who were aboard the targeted vehicle, were killed in the IED explosion. These claims have not been confirmed yet.
ISIS is likely trying to terrorize SDF fighters and commanders by releasing these photos. The terrorist group followed a similar tactic in Iraq for years before emerging in 2014.
