Ruby Rose Accuses Katy Perry Of ‘Sexual Assault’ In A Public Message: 'It Has Taken Almost 2 Decades To Say This'
Ruby Rose is breaking her silence on an incident that happened nearly 20 years ago. The Australian actress shockingly accused Katy Perry of sexual assault on a public message on Threads on April 12.
Complex shared an article about the “I Kissed a Girl” singer’s reaction to Justin Bieber’s Coachella set on Threads Sunday, prompting Rose to comment, “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks.”
People expressed outrage and empathy to Rose, who shared more details about the incident — and why she never pressed charges — in the replies. “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. “It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly,” she replied to one person praising that Rose is “strong enough” to call out an A-list celeb. “Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”
In a different response, Rose wrote that for her, “opening up about [women on women] violence and sexual abuse, seems to be 100 times harder than speaking about the male predators.”
The Dirty Angels actor detailed the alleged assault in another post, writing, “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her.” She followed that up by saying that she “changed” the story in the aftermath to be “a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it.” Afterward, Rose alleged that Perry “agreed to help me get my US visa,” so Rose kept the incident “a secret.” “But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. everyone,” she added.
Another person simply told her, “I believe you” and Rose responded, “Before I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself ‘it’s ok, you don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer. But then I see this post and … tears consume me, in a good way. Thank you.”
After initially saying that she was “not interested in filing a report over this,” due to the fact that she hasn’t “filed a report for the numerous rapes at the hands of grown men,” she later said that she decided to go to the police. Rose wrote, “Today I will be walking into a police station to see if any of my experiences can be investigated. I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try.”

In a post early this morning, Rose gave another update, writing in part, “If any good witches, or spirit folk, feel so generous as to cast a few protective spells around me, it would be greatly appreciated. I said names inside the station that hold much more power than me and frankly, freak me out. I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations.”
This isn’t the first time Rose has spoken out against the “Woman’s World” singer. In May 2017, the Orange Is the New Black star lashed out against Perry’s song “Swish Swish” on X, calling it a “sloppy mess” and accusing her of “rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low,” per E! News. Later, Rose apologized, writing in a now-deleted Tweet, “Being mean doesn’t suit me and leaves me feeling dirty. Truth is being mean leaves more leaks in your camp than the titanic and I… get so triggered when I think bullies don’t get held accountable and it makes me think I should say something.. but it’s not [my] place,” she wrote, per E!
“I have always believed strongly that Karma exists and the truth always surfaces however I’m not god and I can’t decide when or how that is,” Rose added. “Clearly comes from being bullied in school & wanting to stick up for the underdogs. However I shouldn’t stoop because then the [message] is mixed.”
So far, Perry has not responded to the allegations.
